The Mediterranean fields surrounding Son Doblons were once hills and forests reserved by the nobility for hunting. For that reason the area remained uninhabited by people and has preserved its distinctive rustic character. Today, this area remains a virgin expanse of great ecological value, specially protected by environmental legislation.

The villa's construction began in the sixteenth century and was for centuries the residence of the owners of the extensive farmlands and pastures which were an integral part of the property. It has been recently refurbished with a sympathetic eye to the property's heritage as well as an uncompromising dedication to luxury and stylish design.

At 2,000 square metres Son Doblons is a grandiose and spacious mansion house. Set out across two floors, and boasting a tower with panoramic views across the island and the Sierra Tramuntana mountains, a stay here is an authentic Mallorcan experience. On the ground floor is the generous main living area. The salon features a grand piano, where private chamber music concerts are performed. Leading off the lounge are several bedrooms, each with its own private living room with a fireplace and direct access to private terraces and the gardens.

The upper floor houses further bedrooms and the villa's beautiful library. Bathed in natural light courtesy of an art-nouveau wall of windows overlooking the bay and Cape Formentor, the library is perfect for quiet relaxation, or a game at the card table.

One of the villa's highlights is the seamless transition from indoor to outdoor living. The seven stunning gardens are simply an extension of the house, and wafts of honeysuckle, jasmine, bougainvillea and citrus will tempt you to explore. Each has been conceived around a central water source, in the form of cascading ponds, feature fountains or glass-like pools. The soft sound of running water is a relaxing soundtrack to any stay at Son Doblons.

Enjoy an array of activities and entertainment at Son Doblons. The swimming pool is a generous 80 square metres and is encased by a sun terrace with plenty of loungers for everyone to simply chill out in the sunshine. Alternatively, a tennis court and football pitch allow for more energetic pursuits. The shaded portico beside the pool, and a covered alfresco dining space offer a cooling interval from the afternoon sun, or explore the surrounding woodland for the perfect sheltered spot amongst the lush gardens.

The prices are based on exclusive use of the property for up to 18 guests, to include housekeeping 6 days a week and gardener.

Mandatory chef and staff service is charged in addition: half board service at a rate of 55€ person/day + VAT, and full board at a rate of 69€ person/day + VAT, based on a minimum group size of 12 guests. For smaller groups, please enquire.

Location

Located only four kilometres from the beach, which can be accessed via a dry stone road, Son Doblons is situated within a beautiful nature reserve of pastures and woodland. The virgin beaches nearby extend into the surrounding pine forest and offer an escape of white sand and azure waters. Nearby villages offer a picturesque and authentic step into local culture; Artá, Petra, Capdepera and Son Servera are all nearby.
